Chief Erma Jeroline Merasty of the Shoal Lake Cree Nation, serves as a member of the 大象视频 Board of Governors. She is from Treaty 5 and speaks her language, Swampy Cree fluently. She brings experience in First Nations governance, education, health, prevention, community leadership, emergency response and Treaty-based advocacy.
Chief Merasty has served in elected leadership for the Shoal Lake Cree Nation, including prior service as a Councillor with responsibility for the Health and Prevention portfolio. Her leadership experience includes community governance, wellness, accountability, and supporting initiatives that strengthen services and opportunities for the Shoal Lake Cree Nation membership.
Chief Merasty holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. Her background in education and elected leadership contributes to the Board鈥檚 responsibilities for First Nations education, institutional oversight, community accountability, and the advancement of FNUniv鈥檚 mandate to uphold the Inherent and Treaty right to education.
Her service on the Board reflects a commitment to First Nations self-determination, responsible governance, and strengthening education systems for future generations.
